Glem GT320IX electric domino hob - 2 zones - stainless steel

The Glem GT320IX electric domino hob is 29 cm wide and 3 cm high overall, one of the slimmest profiles in the category. This format combines with other dominos to build a modular hob, or installs on its own in a small kitchen, a studio flat or a kitchenette. It is made in Italy, a rare thing at this price point.

Its two zones are conventional cast iron electric plates, totalling 3,500 W. The principle is as simple as it gets: an element heats the plate, which passes heat straight to the base of the pan by contact. That calls for flat-bottomed pans for good contact, but removes any requirement on material, and the plate holds its heat after switching off, which lets you finish cooking on residual heat.

The controls are front knobs, one per zone, with an individual timer. A power-on indicator shows that a zone is live, a useful safety point on a plate that does not always glow visibly. This kind of mechanical control can be handled with wet or greasy hands, unlike touch buttons.
